What is the difference between an EBA and an EFZ apprenticeship?
EBA? EFZ? Exactly, that means "Federal Vocational Certificate" or "Federal Certificate of Competence".
The EBA apprenticeship is a 2-year basic training course and is primarily intended for those with somewhat weaker schooling. The EBA apprenticeship has replaced the former apprenticeship in many professions. After successfully completing the EBA apprenticeship, you can - depending on your profession and performance - enter directly into the 2nd year of the corresponding EFZ apprenticeship. For example, you can start your career as a health and social care assistant EBA and then complete your basic training with an apprenticeship as a health specialist EFZ. With an EFZ qualification, you can either go straight into working life or complete a vocational baccalaureate and later study at a university of applied sciences.
For which apprenticeships is it possible to do the vocational baccalaureate at the same time?
In principle, it is possible to obtain a vocational baccalaureate alongside any EFZ apprenticeship. However, we recommend that you consult with your vocational training supervisor beforehand.
