Job description
Would you like to acquire in-depth theoretical knowledge in the field of nursing and do so as practically as possible? Then the Bachelor of Science in Nursing at the University of Applied Sciences is just right for you! The content of the course is geared towards the acquisition of important skills as a qualified nurse. Through a coordinated combination of practical and theoretical studies, the course creates the best conditions for your everyday working life.

Training process
The USB offers BSc in Nursing students internships for the practical modules and the additional module (BFH / ZHAW) and accompanies them during this time as part of our training model, which is implemented on all training wards.
Students are assigned to us directly via the universities of applied sciences in nursing. In accordance with the requirements of the universities of applied sciences, you can apply directly to us for the 6-week compulsory elective internship (BFH) and the additional module B (BFH) or additional module C (ZHAW).
Prerequisites
In addition to a vocational baccalaureate, specialized baccalaureate or baccalaureate from a grammar school, at least one year of work experience in a profession related to the subject area must be proven.
Before or after the aptitude test for admission to the Bern University of Applied Sciences, Faculty of Health, a two-month internship (additional module A) must be completed in a healthcare or social services institution before the start of studies (exception: holders of a vocational baccalaureate in health and persons with a federal certificate of proficiency in healthcare and a vocational baccalaureate).
Career opportunities
Good news: Once you have completed your training as a nursing specialist FH, there are numerous opportunities for further education and training. Specifically, as a qualified nurse you have the opportunity to specialize in anaesthesia, intensive care and emergency nursing. You will need one year of professional experience for this (information on this postgraduate course can be found here: unispital-basel.ch/nds) You can also complete a shortened course to become a midwife FH with the FH nursing diploma at the University of Applied Sciences.
You can also pursue a career as a BSc qualified nurse in management or education. Through further education and training, you can, for example, become a team leader or ward manager in the field of management. In the field of education, you have the opportunity to specialize in the training of other nurses and thus develop into a vocational trainer.
