swissRITA is a reference center recognized by kosek.
A reference center of the National Coordination of Rare Diseases (kosek) meets high standards in the care, education and research of rare diseases. It offers specialized consultation hours as well as information and coordinates a lifelong offer for those affected. The aim is to provide the best possible support and care for children, adolescents and adults with rare diseases.
The University Center for Rare Diseases Basel is a joint service of the UKBB and the University Hospital Basel USB. Since 2020, this service has been recognized by kosek, which is committed to improving the care situation for those affected by rare diseases.

Rheumatologie-Sprechstunde für Jugendliche
Rheumatologische Erkrankungen können bereits im Kindesalter auftreten. Im weiteren Krankheitsverlauf übernehmen anstelle der Kinderärzte die nachbehandelnden Rheumatologen die Therapie. Es besteht eine Kooperation mit dem Universitäts-Kinderspital beider Basel (UKBB), um den heranwachsenden Patientinnen und Patienten den Übergang von der vertrauten Umgebung im UKBB in die «Erwachsenenmedizin» zu erleichtern.
Allgemeine rheumatologische Sprechstunde
Beschwerden am Bewegungsapparat gehören zu den häufigsten Konsultationsgründen in der Grundversorgerpraxis. Wird eine degenerative oder entzündliche rheumatische Erkrankung als Ursache der Beschwerden vermutet, bieten wir in unserer rheumatologischen Sprechstunde eine gezielte Abklärung an.
Nebst einer umfassenden Anamnese und klinischen Untersuchung kommen Laboruntersuchungen und bildgebende Verfahren zur Anwendung, insbesondere die Sonographie des Bewegungsapparates. Nach Bedarf werden auch Punktionen von Gelenken oder Weichteilstrukturen vorgenommen um eine Diagnose zu stellen.
